The primary mission of the CUAHSI Water Data Center is to empower scientists to discover, use, store,
and share water data from multiple sources to address integrative grand
challenge questions in water science. Its secondary mission is to advance hydro-informatics through
participation in standards definition, refinement, and adoption, as well as
user training and support.
The WDC provides data services to the hydrologic science community and other critical-zone science communities that require access to various sources of water data to perform research on fundamental challenges in hydrology and Earth System science. Founded in 2001, the Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science, Inc. (CUAHSI) is a 501(c)3 research organization representing more than 120 U.S. universities and international water science-related organizations.
Is the scope and intent of this mission appropriate?

crowd sourcing data and tools?
Why only "integrative" grand challenges - what about challenges that don't integrate but involve data only on a few, but key variables or processes - or challenges that are not focused on integration. It is also not clear to me what is being integrated here - disciplines (eco, hydro, geo, climate)? If so is the mission to also prove data on all those variables? Maybe delete "integrative" Naomi
